MOBILE SAP RF TRANSACTION FOR GOODS RECEIPT
Inventory scanning is a vital task in many industries. From manufacturing and warehousing to distribution and pharmaceuticals, dedicated teams worldwide depend on RF scanning software and hardware to keep accurate records. At BCC Distribution, we’re committed to offering fast and reliable technology for RF goods receipt to keep your operations going.
Your team will find many options for RF software for SAP at BCC Distribution as well as hardware like barcode scanners. BCC Distribution has everything your company needs for efficient RF confirmations and receiving.
RF Confirmations and Receiving
The SAP RF transaction for Goods Receipt, RF MIGO, is used to receive materials into your SAP/S4HANA Warehouse Management or Inventory Management System using mobile handheld devices. The RF goods receipt is the physical inbound movement of goods or materials into the warehouse. It is a goods movement that’s used to post goods received from external vendors or in-plant production. All RF goods receipts result in an increase in stock in the warehouse.
In RF confirmations and receiving, goods are received from (1) external vendors, usually with a purchase order, (2) in-house production, using a purchase order or process order, and/or (3) inter-company transfers which are plant-to-plant movements with a stock transfer order.
A Closer Look at Goods Receipt Transactions
Using the RF Goods Receipt transaction, RF MIGO, raw materials, supplies and/or consumables are typically received to a standard purchase order and placed in (1) unrestricted-use stock, (2) quality inspection, or (3) blocked stock. Using a standard purchase order allows the material shipment to be received in its entirety or partially. Finished goods, likely for resale, are received on inbound deliveries also using the RF MIGO transaction. Let’s take a look at the process of goods receipt transactions:
- When receiving stock from a vendor or in-house production into unrestricted-use stock, the materials become readily available for use and trigger SAP putaway, which is the process of moving stock into the warehouse bins/locations.
- Materials received into quality inspection stock are retained for quality inspection and cannot be readily used. After inspection, the materials can be accepted and moved to unrestricted-use stock or rejected and moved to blocked stock, either completely or partially.
- You can conditionally accept a delivery by placing the materials in goods receipt blocked stock. Unlike goods receipts to the warehouse, the receipts posted to the goods receipt blocked stock are not yet part of the valuated stock. Blocked stock can be a conditional acceptance of material perhaps from a vendor supplying excess material or damaged material that you want to take some time to decide whether to accept or reject.
If the material is intended for consumption (order items with account assignments), the purchasing department can specify a recipient or an unloading point. Both specifications are then automatically proposed by the system during the entry of the goods receipt. You can still change the unloading point when you enter the goods receipt, but you cannot change the recipient. BCC Distribution only offers solutions for SAP transactions for RF goods receipt that are versatile and able to meet the many demands of warehousing and inventory.
The process for RF confirmations and receiving can be complex, but it doesn’t have to be with the right RF software for SAP. At BCC Distribution, our experts will connect your team with the software that will ensure smooth RF confirmations and receiving.
RF Software for SAP: SAP/S4 HANA
The SAP/S4 HANA Goods Receipt transaction for your mobile handheld device, RF MIGO, also allows for cross-docking, the unloading of goods from inbound delivery vehicles, and loading them directly to outbound vehicles. You can transport the products or handling units from goods receipt to goods issue without SAP putaway occurring in between. Usually, cross-docking is specified at the material level. Using cross-docking enables you to fulfill urgent sales orders or reduce processing and storage costs. Material types like perishable or prepackaged materials which don’t need quality checks are well suited for cross-docking decisions. At BCC Distribution, we will work with your team to ensure that your RF software for SAP works for your processes.
In addition to RF software for goods receipt, teams need reliable and durable hardware to facilitate accurate goods receipt with barcode scanners. Not only does BCC Distribution have dependable SAP software solutions, but we also offer SAP-integrated scanners for goods receipt transactions.
Facilitating Goods Receipt With Barcode Scanners
RF barcode label printing and goods receipt with barcode scanners lays the foundation for efficient and accurate subsequent goods movement throughout the warehouse. The SAP RF MIGO Goods Receipt transaction has automated barcode label printing using the Zebra RF scanner to a Zebra tabletop or mobile barcode label printer. Barcode label information, number of labels, and default printer are obtained from the materials master, based on the customer’s business rules. For example, you receive 1000 lbs. of raw material with 100 lbs./pallet. The RF MIGO transaction will show you a quantity of 10 labels, one for each pallet. The worker can increase the number of copies of labels to be printed. In this scenario, two barcode labels per pallet are recommended, one for the front and one on the side, so the number of copies will be changed to two, allowing 20 barcode labels to be printed. In SAP Warehouse Management, WM, the information to be printed includes plant, storage location, storage type, and storage bin. In SAP Inventory Management (IM) only plant and storage locations are available.
Best practice standards are vital to create consistent and easy-to-use RF screens for mobile users, as well as to meet corporate requirements for standardization for goods receipt with barcode scanners. BCC Distribution designs each IM and WM transaction for mobile RF scanners (handheld barcode scanners, rugged tablets, vehicle terminals and more) with minimal words and maximum simplicity, optimized specifically to make the mobile SAP RF scanning and barcode printing system extremely easy to use for the operator. BCC Distribution’s solution is developed for real-time and directly integrated architecture, using SAP-certified software development platforms and connectivity tools.
