TranSEND – Store & Forward SAP Mobility

TranSEND is the latest in native SAP RF scanning mobility and barcode automation for SAP Inventory Management, Warehouse Management, Stock Room Management, and EWM applications. Leveraging SAP BTP, Cloud Connector, Mobile Services, and a low-code MDK approach, BCCD enables real-time mobility and barcode scanning for SAP S/4HANA + SAP ECC 6.0, using Android and iOS devices, plus support for Store & Forward (online/offline) applications.

TranSEND is our state-of-the-art native SAP solution for RF mobility. TranSEND harnesses the power of SAP Business Technology Platform, or BTP, and SAP Mobile Services to deliver real-time, online/offline, and batch-mode barcode scanning capabilities for SAP S/4HANA. TranSEND offers seamless store and forward support for SAP applications, improving productivity in both online and offline use-case scenarios. TranSEND allows material handlers to easily scan barcodes and validate SAP inventory data anytime and anywhere, facilitating visibility, data validation, and inventory accuracy. By offering different connectivity modes, and leveraging the latest capabilities from SAP BTP, TranSEND allows businesses to use BCC Distribution’s barcoding system nearly anywhere, optimizing inventory control and tracking in a unique way without changing the core of operations.

When paired with certified Zebra RF devices or Honeywell barcode scanners, TranSEND creates a RF barcode scanning and label printing system with cloud or hybrid architecture for fast data collection and a simple user experience. The TranSEND solution is specifically designed to improve productivity while minimizing errors, no matter your business’s connectivity limitations. Manual data collection errors and separate data entry processes are a thing of the past with BCC Distribution’s TranSEND solution, natively integrated with SAP software.

TranSEND: Mobility with SAP BTP

To successfully support stable connectivity with SAP BTP and SAP Mobile Services, TranSEND leverages the reliability of Zebra and Honeywell SAP-certified devices, including rugged RF terminals and a certified Android OS (enterprise grade). The SAP RF device setup requires specific device implementation that includes expert device staging and configuration through manual and/or MDM deployment approaches. BCC Distribution’s barcode device implementation for TranSEND and store & forward applications include:

  • Staging & Configuration
  • MDM Deployment or Manual Deployment
  • Wireless IP/SSID
  • SAP Access
  • Single Sign On (SSO)
  • SAP Connectivity and Data Sync Method
    • Real-Time
    • Store & Forward Database
    • Batch Database

Together with a native Android APK, TranSEND is ready to work with the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), facilitating SAP BTP for mobile barcoding. By providing a way to reduce infrastructure while improving functionality, TranSEND streamlines data capture and visibility.

TranSEND SAP BTP Connectivity

TranSEND leverages SAP BTP to offer multiple data connectivity and synchronization capabilities while maintaining a sustainable and scalable SAP RF barcode scanning solution approach. Having multiple SAP connectivity options enables BCC Distribution’s customers to optimize their inventory and warehousing operations based on their specific business scenario. TranSEND supports Real-Time connectivity, Store & Forward (online/offline) connectivity, as well as Batch Mode (offline only). Each connectivity approach has its own advantages and use-case design principles. All of BCC Distribution’s TranSEND RF scanning solution modes have the same goal- to reduce errors, save time, and increase efficiency.

1. Real-Time Connectivity

As the name suggests, real-time connectivity occurs when the user logs into the mobile RF scanning device, using their SAP login credentials, and SAP information is presented on-demand based on the actual task or function. Material and/or locations barcode labels are scanned, transactions are executed, data is immediately validated, and updates are posted in the SAP system. This enables immediate updates to inventory levels and goods movement, such as a Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, Pick for Delivery, or Cycle Count.

2. Store & Forward Connectivity

Store & Forward (online/offline connectivity) is ideal for working environments with little to no online connectivity. Connectivity is applicable to both the SAP system as well as the wireless system, be it WLAN or WWAN. BCC Distribution’s design for TranSEND Store & Forward technology is to enable off-line capability to supplement online use. In offline mode, data will be collected, validated, and transacted utilizing the Zebra scanners in-device cache (memory) for each inventory transaction completed. When TranSEND’s connection is re-established with the SAP system, uploading, downloading, and data reconciliation will be synchronized via user-initiation prompt, automatic polling, or a hybrid approach based on the client’s specific application design.

3. Batch Mode (Offline Use)

Batch mode operation facilitates reliable SAP inventory transaction execution while not connected directly to the SAP system during use. This mode of SAP-based RF barcode scanning is primarily used when wireless connectivity is not an option for any specific business requirement. TranSEND’s batch mode is useful when SAP transactions need to be performed offline, or remotely, to allow users to upload data to a Zebra scanner, validate and collect data on the device and the point of execution, and then download/synchronize and reconcile SAP data via a specific approach, such as via Ethernet cradle connectivity.

Real-Time, Store & Forward, and Batch Mode options offer unique benefits for different SAP inventory traceability applications. The strength of each connectivity approach provides companies with an opportunity to meet nearly any inventory or warehouse management application, regardless of connectivity capabilities.
